When you think about Switzerland, your mind immediately drifts away to snow capped mountains, heaps of cheese and scrumptious chocolates. However, the Swiss are also known for their flawless timekeeping. The Swiss are always on time. On one of my trips to Horgen, Zürich, we organized a little get-together for a few friends (South African & Swiss) and on the invite, we stated the time at 4:30 for 5:00. All the South Africans understood that but to the Swiss this was incomprehensible. Why would you stipulate two times? Which is it? Their transport infrastructure is also world class, with scores of trains departing and arriving at various stations exactly on time. On one occasion, a train from Thalwil was meant to arrive at Horgen at 17:06 and was a minute late. A friend of mine took this opportunity to show the Swiss that they are not always punctual. So he cheerfully lifted his arm, looked at the train driver and pointed to his watch to which the driver r defiantly responded with a middle finger. You gotta love the Swiss!
